5 More James Stewart Films

#7} Harvey (1950)

My favorite actor playing my favorite big band artist.

#9} Pot O' Gold (1941)
Really hard to find pictures for this, as it was one of his lesser known movies. He plays some great harmonica playing in it though.

And Finally, #10} Magic Town (1947)

I know I didn't mention any of his great Alfred Hitchcock directed or western films, but you can tell I'm a sucker for the younger Stewart. Plus, I love the fashion from these films as well (Above: see June Alyson's dress from Glenn Miller Story).
Also, credit goes to Dr. Macro's High Quality Movie Scans for most of the photos in this post and the previous one.

UPDATE: Yesterday I found a blog completely dedicated to Jimmy Stewart. It looks new, although it's been around for about a year. => Toms' Jimmy Stewart Blog

Jimmy Stewart is my beau.

We all have that certain type of movie star we've admired {well, most of us, right?}. Maybe it was their looks, the way they dressed. Perhaps it was their soft, lilting voice or the way they wore their hair. Maybe it was that certain look that came about them on a closeup or that little smirk from the corner of their mouth. Maybe they captured your heart by the way they danced across the floor or even walked across the room - or entered one. Could it be that charming air? The way they carried themselves or just the presence of them being there made the film magical. I could go on...but you've gazed upon the film star who fits all of this into one for me.
Well, I guess you could sort of say I grew up with Jimmy Stewart. I remember seeing him in It's a Wonderful Life ever since I can remember. The way he says, "Well this is a very interesting situation!" still gets me every time. I have a few friends who didn't grow up with It's a Wonderful Life and didn't care for it all that much. I can't comprehend. Doesn't even compute. And how tragic!, I think. But I still love them. It's a Christmas tradition for my family as it is for many. I hope to start a new tradition for myself by watching Harvey every Easter. And how quickly it is coming! Anyway, I want to share with you, in my personal opinion, the 10 Best James Stewart Films. Although I haven't seen all of them, this is out of the 30 or so I have seen.
Bet you didn't know there's a colorized version, did ya? :)

If you've ever seen High Society, this one is the original.

Way before You've Got Mail ever came around.

#5} Born to Dance (1936)
I watch this not only because of Jimmy, but also it has Eleanor Powell - the 1930's Queen of Tap Dancing. And yes, they both tap dance in it!

Since this post has run quite long, I will post the last five movies in a next post. Have a nice weekend!

Favorite Super Bowl Commercial

I love the milkman's reaction.

Crack's me up every time I watch it!

P.S. Anyone else hear about Jerry Lewis remaking his 1960's movies? Not sure how I feel about someone else playing Jerry's characters...but he's going to a lot more involved with the writing and producing. Then again, remakes hardly ever measure up to the original.

Current Obssesion: Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis

Yup. Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. My mom introduced me to them last month. She said she had grown up with their movies. I'm not sure I've had an obsession like this since my dad introduced me to The Monkees. I've watched as much of The Colgate Comedy Hour as much as I could. (They starred in The Colgate Comedy Hour, a live variety television show, from 1950-1955.) My oldest brother loves it as well. Him being eight, it's perfectly hilarious. I get a kick when Jerry starts ad-libbing his way through skits and Dean and him both try to hide their laughter. I laugh just thinking about it. Most people know Dean as the Italian crooner, but boy, when Jerry and him are together they can make a whole room roar.

One of my favorite skits is when Dean Martin is a photographer and Jerry Lewis is a window washer. It has some of the funniest ad-libbing I've come across on the show. You have to really listen to what they're saying in between their lines. Here is part one of two:

After The Colgate Comedy Hour they both went on to do their own movies. My favorite Jerry Lewis movie I've seen so far is Cinderfella. Seriously cute ending.
