Catching Up

These photos are from last fall on an outing with friends. We had to laugh at this one...I call it the "Off to War" photo. I think it was the way I was standing and looking in the far off distance.

First Taste of Fall

  Of course, I would wear a wool beret on a 74 degree, slightly humid day. That didn't really stop me from expressing myself from the fact I was going apple picking this morning. After being woken up by my mom, announcing we were going to Butternut Farm with friends, I had quite a clear picture enter my mind of what I wanted to wear (seldom does this happen) regardless of the weather (..always seems to happen). So there I was strolling down the isles of apples with smells of cinnamon doughnut and baked pie wafting through the air (fresh from the farm shoppe), my younger brothers weaving between the trees and I, snapping away my camera. It was the most perfect overcast day and later on the sun decided to peak through. We came home with 52 lbs. of honey crisp apples. {Though I am a granny smith lover at heart.}

Striped 40's Dress & Bow Tie

 I just bought this vintage dress at a little boutique in Portsmouth, NH called The Odd Showroom. I was labeled as a 50's dress, but upon research it turned out to be from 1940 or 1941. The tag inside said it was from the F.O.G.A. {The Fashion Originators Guild of America} If you have a vintage dress from the F.O.G.A., you can identify the year by the tag here. This dress fit perfectly and it looks great with my vintage bow tie. Also it was a $10 steal!

P.S. Thinking of getting another short hair cut very soon - Elizabeth Taylor-esque, perhaps?

The 'Lucy' Dress

Today I received a 1950's dress I purchased from the The Vintage Zone on Esty. It was an as is buy and I'll be fixing the small holes around the sleeve area today or tomorrow. I adore the little rhinestones on the collar and cuffs! I love how clothing was so exquisitely detailed back then. I wish I knew the designer of the dress, who wore it, and to what function? I reminds me of Lucille Ball's dress...

Which, of course, couldn't be worn without heels and a pearl necklace. ;)

Swingin' Dress

 I'm nearly finished with this 1940's style dress (pattern). I'm quite in love with it and can't wait to wear it!
