The 'Lucy' Dress

Today I received a 1950's dress I purchased from the The Vintage Zone on Esty. It was an as is buy and I'll be fixing the small holes around the sleeve area today or tomorrow. I adore the little rhinestones on the collar and cuffs! I love how clothing was so exquisitely detailed back then. I wish I knew the designer of the dress, who wore it, and to what function? I reminds me of Lucille Ball's dress...

Which, of course, couldn't be worn without heels and a pearl necklace. ;)

Swingin' Dress

 I'm nearly finished with this 1940's style dress (pattern). I'm quite in love with it and can't wait to wear it!

Looks Like Neopolitan

My newest sewing project...almost finished! I tried it on yesterday and I felt like a nurse. It came out looking like a 1950's house dress. Which I would usually love, but really it didn't come out like I thought it would. I have yet to put the buttons on, so that might help. And I'll shorten the sleeves.

The pattern is from 1971. Ew, I know, tell me about it. (Not to offend anyone who's into 70's fashion. It's not me.) But it has a 40's/50's feel. I got it from my grandmas stash of patterns (boxes upon boxes of them!). I want to be like my grandma someday.

Sewing...Sewing...

This dress I made a while ago, but I'm making a matching jacket now. Unfortunately, I accidentally made the arm holes to small, so that will be for another day. I can't wait when it's finished!

Lovely Dresses

My friend started making a dress for the summer. It's a beautiful pink salmon color. It's going to have a darker shade of pink underneath with a lighter sheer layer on top with sleeves. I can't wait to see the finished results!
She also made this blue dress last year, but it has some complications. There is a ripple in the zipper and the ruching under the bust is sagging a little. So, I offered help her with that, but I thought she did a great job considering she didn't use a pattern! I haven't been so bold as to try that. I made a brown jumper for the fall last year, which I haven't gotten around to photographing. There is still a few details I want to add to it. Maybe I'll make a dress for the summer too...I'm thinking of yellow or maybe blue...
I've really been wanting to make this one Amy Adams wears in Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day.
I want to find a similar pattern, but right now it's just a dream. :)

Flight plans & Small delays

Sorry, I haven't been on much. I have been busy with phone calls and traveling plans for my mission trip to Ukraine! After the camp I'm helping at, I'm hoping to stay there more than a week, but we'll see. Oh, and here's pictures of my vintage dress. It's by Alfred Werber. I can't find much about him online. Only that he designed clothes from about the 30's to the 70's. I'm pretty sure this is from late fifties to early sixties. And it fits perfectly. I'm also making a brown jumper that I wanted to finish this fall. I have so many things to sew and fix. I even finished a fifties-style dress this past summer except the hem and zipper. That's me..always starting projects and never getting around to finishing them. Even though I technically have all the time in the world, being homeschooled and all. I really just need a sewing room or at least a large sewing table, that way I would feel motivated to sew. Oh well, can't have everything. :){Lauryn}
